Anne Hathaway has to be ready to play basketball at a moment's notice.
The actress — who shares two sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, with husband Adam Shulman — tells PEOPLE in her cover story for World's Most Beautiful 2026 about her favorite parts about being a "boy mom."
"I’m a tomboy! I love that being a boy mom has really informed my fashion," she says in the issue on newsstands Friday. "I have to always be able to go from a serious business meeting to, like, a basketball court. You have to be able to play pickup basketball at any point, in any outfit. So [I tell myself]: When you get dressed in the morning, dress wisely because you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably by the end of breakfast."

The Devil Wears Prada 2 star laughed with PEOPLE GM and Editor in Chief Charlotte Triggs about what it's like to be a boy mom like herself vs. a girl mom like Triggs (who has three daughters).
"Did you ever see the video about boy moms vs. girl moms? Oh my gosh. It's so funny," says Hathaway, 43. "It's like girl moms sit and they're like, coloring with their daughter and they're like, 'What a beautiful piece of art?' And it's like, so quiet. Boy moms, they're like, 'Where's your weapons' basket?'" she jokes.

Hathaway wouldn't change a thing. “We love going to sports games,” she says of spending time with her boys. “I just enjoy wearing jeans, playing pickup basketball and going to see the Knicks.”
Later in the interview, Hathaway gets emotional talking about her pregnancies. "I just feel very lucky," she says. "I know that not everybody who wants to be a parent gets to be. I’m just blown away by how fortunate I am. It went really well for me twice, and that’s really lucky."

When asked if she could pinpoint the most beautiful part about being a mother, she hesitates for a minute: "I couldn't imagine identifying a single most. Being a mom is just this beautiful ongoing poem that I get to live inside of."
