Johnny Knoxville finished his final Jackass movie with an explosion large enough that it worried citizens in the area.

Knoxville, 55, took credit for an explosion that took place in Simi Valley, Calif. on Saturday, April 18, and explained in an Instagram post that smoke onlookers saw at a park in the area was the result of the final day of shooting for the upcoming Jackass: Best and Last.

"Apparently people thought a plane had crashed yesterday in Simi Valley. Little did they know it was from a monstrous explosion @jemfxpopov created for us for the final day ever of @jackass filming," Knoxville wrote on Instagram. He shared video of the smoke from the incident in question from a local news account that originally shared the footage.

"We were standing near the explosion and couldn't believe what we were seeing 😂," Knoxville added in his post, crediting special effects supervisor Elia Popov with creating the effects needed for their shoot. "Thank you to Elia, his crew and the rest of our amazing crew yesterday to make sure we went out with a bang. 26 years and that's a wrap!!😭❤️ Coming to theater June 26th, Jackass: Best and Last. 🎉🎉"

The Instagram account that originally shared footage of smoke in the area, @joeknowsventura, wrote in a follow-up post about the incident, "Case solved it was Johnny @johnnyknoxville out there doing some Jackass stuff."

Knoxville first announced that he was returning for a fifth Jackass movie in January. In February, the longtime stunt performer and star of the franchise confirmed that Best and Last would be Jackass's last entry in an interview with Rolling Stone.

"This is the natural place to end. So it's going to be absolutely awful," he jested at the time. When the outlet asked Knoxville if he thought making another Jackass movie was "a good idea," he replied that the franchise "never was a good idea." "It was just fun. You know how you have ideas that are terrible but are fun?" he added. "This would be that."

Knoxville famously said in a 2022 interview on The Howard Stern Show that he suffered from brain damage after he was rammed by a bull for a stunt featured in Jackass Forever and doctors told him he "cannot take any more hits to the head" moving forward. He grew emotional while speaking with Rolling Stone about his inability to perform stunts related to bulls in that February interview.

"Well, after all the concussions, I can't do [those stunts] anymore," Knoxville admitted. "I realize it's not the healthiest thing. So I can look at that now, as opposed to not wanting to."

Longtime Jackass cast members Steve-O, Pontius, England, Wee Man (Jason Acuña) and Preston Lacy will appear in the sequel, Deadline reported following Knoxville's appearance at CinemaCon on April 16.
